The international wind and watermill museum is located in Gifhorn. With its 16 mills from all over the world, it is really impressive and the reason why the city is nicknamed the "mill town". In addition to the mills, there are three restored half-timbered houses on the grounds of the open-air museum, which include the "bakery" and the "bread house". Here you can stop off for a rustic meal and enjoy, for example, traditionally made bread from the stone oven.

In summer, the mill museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can find more information at: muehlenmuseum.de.

You can drive around most of the park and keep discovering new windmills. There are 14 mills in total.
If you decide to visit, unfortunately some mills cost extra despite the entrance fee :-(
The entire mill museum recently became the property of the town of Gifhorn☝

The International Wind and Water Mills Museum in Gifhorn, Lower Saxony, with its mills, is a unique facility in Europe. On the approximately 16-acre outdoor area of the museum are currently 16 original or faithfully reproduced mills from twelve different countries, which are embedded in their native landscape environment. On the whole area also historical objects of the mill and Müllereiwesens are issued. The museum complex is conveniently located near the crossroads of federal highways 4 and 188. The museum is station 65 of the Niedersächsische Mühlenstraße.
