The north ascent of Steinhaus can be driven well and smoothly. In the lower area it usually has a single-digit percentage gradient. On the last km it becomes more demanding. Once at the top, a run-down tavern only suggests better times. If you are hungry upstairs, you can roll to Rettenegg. There is plenty of choice there.

Very attractive pass from both sides. The winding mountain road lies southwest of the Semmering, more precisely in the Fischbacher Alps, which are a gentle, elongated mountain range with a low mountain range character, rich in forests and pastures. The abandoned Pfaffensattelhaus is located on the saddle itself, a popular starting point for various hikes. Both climbs to the Pfaffensattel run mostly in the forest, which means that the view is rather limited. However, cyclists on mountain bikes can turn right at the Pfaffensattel via a gravel road (toll road for cars) to Stuhleck (1782 m). This summit is also the highest peak in the Fischbach Alps and offers an uninterrupted view into the distance. Absolute recommendation! Can be easily combined with Feistritzsattel and Semmering.
