Forte di Monte Ercole was an Italian fortress that was built between 1904 and 1913 on the mountain of the same name to defend the Italian border with the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It is located in the town of Ospedaletto in the Gemona del Friuli area of Friuli Venezia Giulia.

The facility is well-maintained and open to the public. Information boards with archival photos and descriptions further enrich our knowledge of the period preceding World War I.

The Fortress of Monte Ercole, also called "Forte di Ospedaletto" after the name of the nearby village in the municipality of Gemona del Friuli, is part of the defense system of the Upper Tagliamento, along with the nearby fortresses of Osoppo and Monte Festa.
Easily accessible by bike from Ospedaletto, initially via a forest path, then along a former military road. Admission and tours are free.
