The ascent to the port of Bernia is one of the mythical ones. This road zigzags around the Sierra de Bernia. The views of the mountains and the Alicante coast are worth it.
The road is quite calm. It is in good condition, although from time to time you will find patches on the asphalt, especially on the edges.
In some sections the slope is more than 12%. Skill on the bike helps in these sections.

Road cycling
The climb from the west side (from Jalon) is not steep (nowhere over 8%) so suitable for most people. Riding through several sub-valleys the surroundings are diverse, with a lot of green. On the top you have amazing views from the Refugio Vista Bernia. There should be other restaurants as well, but they seem to be closed (summer 2020).
