It is one of the most remarkable buildings of West Bohemian Baroque. The church was built as a pilgrimage church on the initiative of the parish priest Schuebl from Všerub and the Jesuits from Klatovy, based on the recognition of miraculous healings confirmed by the Prague archbishop's commission in 1712. Legend has it that in 1703 a churchman from Všerub saw a mysterious glow at this point and was miraculously healed. Out of gratitude, he had a small wooden chapel built here, which was soon visited by pilgrims from the area.

He climbed to the top, plagued by sadness and mental depression. Suddenly, he said, he saw glowing clouds above him, bathing the entire surrounding landscape in a bright light. Pajer's soul was miraculously struck by the natural phenomenon. He felt healed by God's power and, in gratitude, had a small wooden chapel built on the site.
