The Plattenkogel, also called Gerlosplatte, is a much-traveled, 2039 m above sea level. A. high view mountain in the Zillertal Alps in the Austrian province of Salzburg, which is heavily developed touristically. Its summit was already declared a natural monument in 1933.
The mountain is located east of the memory Durlassboden, south of the Gerlospasses and west of the Salzachtal. Closest places are Königsleiten and Krimml. A network of hiking trails and numerous ski lifts open up the Plattenkogel, which is part of the Zillertal Arena.
The natural monument summit of the Plattenkogel is one of the oldest objects of protection in the province of Salzburg. Protected is a circular area with a radius of 150 m. For this reason, the lifts do not lead to the immediate summit area.

Go shallow and step up just before the summit cross. During the descent (round trip) you have to orient yourself well to find the starting point.
