Brewery De Fontein is named after the original Stein brewery 'De Fontein', which closed its doors in 1915. The current brewery is located a stone's throw from that old brewery. The monumental buildings in which Brewery De Fontein is located were part of the tenant farm of the nearby Stein Castle centuries ago.

De Fontein Brewery is a small-scale, traditional brewery with an attractive tasting room and terrace. In a rural environment, visitors can enjoy all the home-made products that the brewery has to offer, such as: specialty beers, liqueurs, flan, apple juice and grain bread. In the summer this is possible on the expansive terrace, in the winter you can relax by the stove.

The area has many beautiful cycling and walking routes and is child-friendly.
The tasting room is located on the junction route near junction 41.
On the website of Brouwerij de Fontein you will find various walking and cycling routes that have the Fontein as the start and end point. These can be downloaded from the website and easily printed out.
In the tasting room you can also get the walking booklet 'Stein, heart of the Meuse valley' with five routes in and around Stein.

Tours of the brewery are by appointment only. You can, however, order a tasting at the table of some homemade beers 3, 4, 5 or even 6 tasting glasses for the daredevil.
Due to current measures against the coronavirus, tours are not currently available.
Of course you can come and taste and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and products.
