Johann Balthasar Neumann, commonly known as Balthasar Neumann (born January 27, 1687 in Eger (Bohemia); † August 19, 1753 in Würzburg), was one of the most important Baroque and Rococo builders in southern Germany.
One of his best-known works as an architect, city architect, artist, technician and building organizer is the Würzburg Residence, which was awarded worldwide importance by UNESCO in 1981.
The residence is a world heritage site.
