The church can be seen from many places in Zagorje. It dominates the Zagorje landscape.

Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Strmec

The chapel of Our Lady of Strmečka was built in 1772 in the late Baroque style. It is 18.5 meters long and 8 meters wide. The tower above the entrance to the church is 37 meters high. The central figure of the chapel is the statue of the Mother of God Strmečka, which has been worshiped as miraculous since 1696.

In addition to the statue of Mary in the niche, there are two gilded pillars on the altar bearing a modest architrave, and on the side there are wooden baroque statues of St. Peter and Paul.

The statue of the Mother of God Strmečka is 110 cm high and depicts the Mother of God holding a child on her left forearm and holding an apple in her right hand. Both figures are crowned with baroque crowns. The wooden sculpture of the Virgin is in a richly pleated cloak which tells us that it is a Gothic sculpture made between 1440 or 1460.

Along with the altar of the Blessed Virgin Mary from 1719 located in the church of St. George in the Lake, this statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary is the most valuable work of art in the parish.

In history, the church had side altars of St. Anthony and St. John the Baptist.

A tombstone of the eminent Josip Aleksandar Galjuf, the owner of the estate and the nearby Vižovlje manor, who died in 1854, was built into the rock of the sanctuary.

On the choir above the entrance to the church there is a late classicist organ from the middle of the 19th century, by the Zagreb master Pump.

Around the church there has always been a cemetery where parishioners from a nearby village meet.
