The harbor was originally built at the end of the 19th century only to transport chalk that was mined in the Quolitz district. It was named after its founder, the Stettin industrialist Martin Quistorp. After 1945, chalk transport shifted primarily to rail and road. The chalk harbor was closed down and later converted into a fishing and recreational boat harbor.
