    Hiking

The Torre di Pisa refuge takes its name from the nearby oblique rock spur which recalls the Tuscan tower of the same name.
It is the only refuge in the Latemar group and is located on the top of the Cavignon peak at 2671 meters above sea level.
You can find info on the refuge here: rifugiotorredipisa.it

This was my third time here and the route has changed. There was a lot of rubble here, everything was very “porous”. It's worth enjoying this view, unique rocks.

    Hiking

The Torre di Pisa refuge is accessible to everyone. Beware that if you want to complete the tour passing through the chamois fork there are some exposed passages.

Embark on the Rifugio Torre di Pisa Loop Trail for a challenging hike through the Latemar mountain group. This difficult route spans 8.4 miles (13.5 km) and demands a significant 3134 feet (955 metres) of elevation gain, typically taking around 5 hours and 49 minutes to complete. As you ascend, expect varied terrain from grassy slopes to rocky sections and scree, with some parts featuring wooden steps and handrails. You will be rewarded with expansive panoramic views of the surrounding Dolomite groups, including the Lagorai Chain and Pale di San Martino, and the unique leaning rock pinnacle that gives the Rifugio Torre di Pisa its name.

To make this high-alpine experience more accessible, consider using cable cars and chairlifts from towns like Predazzo and Obereggen, which can transport you to higher starting points such as Passo Feudo. This can help you conserve energy for the more demanding sections of the trail. Always be prepared for potential snowfields, especially if you are hiking earlier in the season. Ensure you have good fitness and sure-footedness, as the rocky parts of the route require careful navigation.

This loop trail is notable for its distinctive natural features and the stunning vistas it offers. Beyond the iconic leaning rock pinnacle, you will also encounter the Latemar 360° Panoramic Platform, providing incredible, unobstructed views of the alpine landscape. The route showcases the rugged beauty of the Dolomites, making it a memorable adventure for experienced hikers seeking a rewarding journey through this unique mountain environment.
