The Schenkenburg was built around 1250. The stump of the keep is still standing and parts of the Palas, the former hall, are still present and tower up to 16 meters in height. The kennel plant is partially still present, but heavily verwuchert.At the foot of the castle ruins you will find an Italian restaurant. Tuesdays are there rest day.

A visit to the Schenkenburg ruins is worthwhile not only because of the beautiful view, but also because of the path around the castle, which describes the structure of the castle and its purpose using 10 well-explanatory panels.A visit to the Schenkenburg can be combined with a hike on the rafting path or a visit to the Schiltach / Schenkenzell swimming pool.
