Raised on a firing dome, this symbolic monument of the Liberation is the work of local artist Yvonne Guégan. On the metal of a flame, wave or bow depending on the interpretation of each, are engraved the names of the 177 French who participated in the military operations on the morning of June 6, 1944. Around, ten small stelae bear the names of the commandos fallen between Colleville -Montgomery and Ouistreham, another recalls the memory of Commander Philippe Kieffer. The complex was inaugurated on June 6, 1984 by President François Mitterrand. It is here that every year, on the anniversary date, French veterans gather for a moving tribute to their fallen comrades.
