A striking summit cross marks the summit of Lodron at 1,925 meters. From here you have a wonderful panoramic view of the Hohe Tauern, covered with glaciers, up to the Wilder Kaiser.

You should only tackle the tightrope walk from Steinbergstein to the nearby Lodron if you are absolutely sure-footed and free from giddiness. But the view will be worth it!

I would always tend to choose the ascent from the Windautal, eg from the Gasthaus Steinberg (excellent food). The path to the Lodron is often on beautiful trails through forest area. On the Kelchsauer side, 80 percent of the roads have to be walked, which is a pity.
