Opposite the Greven swimming pool Schöneflieth, a completely new course with a fish pass has been created for the Ems. In July 2020, the Ems was channeled into the new river bed and can now shape its own course in the new bed. The old course of the Ems will be separated with a dam so that an oxbow river will develop here over time.
The renaturation measures on this section of the Ems are not yet complete. The Schöneflieth transverse structure below the car bridge is still being rebuilt.
Update September 6th, 2020: The work has progressed well. The Schöneflieth transverse structure has been almost completely dismantled and the new bank reinforcement on the side of the outdoor swimming pool is almost finished. In the background you can see the new fish pass. It continues with the renaturation of the Ems between the Schöneflieth car bridge and the mouth of the Munster Aa. A fish pass will also be built there and the Cramer transverse structure will be removed. The fish can use the ascent aids to overcome the difference in height of more than two meters.
