The small villages of Elfgen and Belmen belonging to the municipality of Jüchen had to give way to lignite mining in the 1970s. The places were relocated to the outskirts of the city of Grevenbroich. Near the Elsbach valley and the ADAC driving safety area there is a memorial stone on the edge of the path, exactly at the place where the St. Georg village church at that time stood.
