The view from up there is sensational. It extends from Fichtelberg and Keilberg to the Western Ore Mountains and the Geyerisches Forest, as well as to the Czech Republic.

The Bärenstein, the erosion remnant of a former lava flow, consists predominantly of basalt. The table mountain is 898 meters high. The summit trail leads to several worthwhile vantage points. From the summit cross, there is a beautiful view of the Cranzahl drinking water reservoir, which was commissioned in 1952.

You have a great view from here (if you don't get there in fog like I did today, but you know it from a few hikes before). Some benches offer space for a rest.
