Cape Kobbeduinen is a wooden cape on the Wadden Island of Schiermonnikoog and serves as a daymark for shipping. In 1731, work began on placing approximately 20 capes/beacons at Schiermonnikoog. In 1766, construction began on a new large cape and a smaller cape on the island. Cape Kobbeduinen is the large cape of the island and showed the way for skippers on the Wadden Sea.

You can park your bike here (and there is a bicycle pump and tire repair kit available, provided by Natuurmonumenten) and then continue on foot to below the Beacon. Enjoy the panoramic view over the salt marsh (bird breeding area from April 15 to July 15) on one of the benches and look across the Wadden Sea to the Eemshaven. Outside the breeding season, the salt marsh is accessible and well worth a walk.

Be careful of the loose cows on the salt marsh. When they are allowed outside again, they will run free on the salt marshes and will not quickly give way to cyclists ;-)
