The listed building, which was built in 1929, served as a radio station in the GDR. It has experienced several changes of ownership since 1990.

Funkhaus Grünau was originally a sports house of various banks and was built before the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin in 1929/30. In the Soviet occupation zone and subsequently in the GDR, it was used as a radio house. Hence the current name. The listed building is empty today. The Treptow-Köpenick district calls for water sports use. See also: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funkhaus_Grünau.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the successor television station ARD initially remained the owner, then the former radio station went to the Neukölln educational organization. The facility soon made headlines because the educational institution had to file for bankruptcy in September 2007. After the Neukölln educational center moved out, the historic building, which stood on the attractive 7,500 m² waterfront property, fell noticeably into disrepair. On March 28, 2008, a Hamburg asset management company acquired the property for 655,000 euros at an auction by Deutsche Immobilienauktionen AG in Schöneberg town hall. However, nothing happened afterwards; even simple conservation measures were not observed.
In the meantime, the Hamburger wants to sell - for 10 million euros!!!
