If you come from the Tonto Trail, the short detour to Plateau Point is worthwhile. Likewise, if you then hike onto the North Kaibab Trail, because from here you have a great preview of what awaits you.

From Plateau Point enjoy a nice view down to Colorado River, and a full panorama of Grand Canyon around you. There is no shade here, thus it's recommended to start your hike early.
