Magnificent view of the Puy Mary and the circus at the bottom of the Impradine valley.

A pleasant foray up Mary and Arse. Puy de Mary (1,783m) is the Pen Y Fan of the Auvergne and incredibly popular. It just has a concrete path up instead of stone...yes concrete. However once over the top you drop down and have a very airy undulating ridge with some simple scrambling to ascend craggy Puy de Arse (1,806m). Coming back is via a lower route.
The starting point at Pas de Peyrol is also a regular inclusion on the Tour de France being at 1,589m (loads of parking but very popular. I went early).
All in all this was a stunning outing and only 10k with 700m’s worth of ascent. One of the best short hikes ever.
