A cellar lane is an alley designed as a ravine, where wine cellars and press houses are located. In the cellar lanes there are often smaller wine taverns that invite you to taste.

The Öhlbergkellergasse in Pillersdorf is a two-row cellar lane and is one of the most original cellar lanes in the Austrian Weinviertel. In 1995, it was chosen as the most beautiful cellar lane in Lower Austria in a competition to revitalize the cellar lanes.
The wine cellars on both sides of the hollow road on the Öhlberg are partly over 600 years old, and from the 18th century onwards, press houses were added. What is special about this cellar lane is the authenticity of the whitewashed cellars with the green doors, which have escaped almost any modernization.
