In order to minimize the dangers of flooding for Benediktbeuern and Ried, a large number of flood protection measures were built on the Lainbach. This rake is used to hold entrained tree trunks here on site. In the village they would block these at narrow points (bridges) and cause a backflow of the torrent. As a result, the damage increases in the event of renewed floods. It is of course not a feast for the eyes, but very useful!

The information boards on site not only explain how the protective installation works, but also impressively describe the hazard history of the Lainbach.
