Info from the Wengert homepage:
The forest coal plant is an ancient industry for the extraction of charcoal. In the past, wood was charred in the forest from transport goods and the charcoal in large baskets (only 1/4 of the original weight) was delivered to the iron and steel works, traders and private households.
We are one of the last charcoal makers on the Härtsfeld that still carry out this traditional craft.
