The colored, glazed clay sculpture was created in 1936 by the art ceramist Kurt Feuerriegel and is today one of the most important landmarks of our city. In 2016 our girl is already 80 years old!Along with the Kohrener pottery fountain with the figure of the potter's wife, it is one of his most popular works still preserved in the region around Frohburg.Feuerriegel took the models for his sculptures mainly from everyday life in Frohburg. The model for the potter girl was the daughter of the Greifenhain cantor, Inge Waldapfel, who, according to oral tradition, had black braids. At the suggestion of the Frohburger Heimatverein e. V. arranged for the city of Frohburg to restore the potter girl in 2002. On June 6th, 2003 it was set up again at its old location.Source: frohburg.de/kultur-tourismus/ausflugsziel/toepfermaedchen
