The Flatow Tower in Babelsberg Park in Potsdam was built from 1853 to 1856 according to plans by Johann Heinrich Strack based on the medieval tower of the Eschenheimer Tor in Frankfurt am Main. Emperor Wilhelm I continued the Potsdam building tradition of building observation buildings in prominent places.

The 46 meter high observation tower, built in the neo-Gothic style, stands within a basin that is important for the irrigation of the park. The imperial couple used the building both as a guest house and as a storage place for objects from their own passion for collecting. Guests of the landmark of the Babelsberg garden landscape, which can be seen from afar, can expect a unique view in addition to some of the originally furnished rooms.

The platform offers a unique panoramic view of the city and park landscape.
The tower got its name from the Flatow estate in West Prussia, which belonged to Prince Wilhelm and from whose income the construction was financed.
