The Feldsteinkirche in Garitz is open day and night, one of the resolute churches in the Zerbst church district of the Evangelical Church of Anhalt.

As part of the Lichtungen church art project lichtungen-glasmalerei.de, the English sculptor Tony Cragg designed the windows for the church and donated an Italian marble altar to the congregation.

Anyone who drives or hikes through Garitz should definitely make a stop and immerse themselves in another world for a moment in the church interior - especially when the sun shines through the windows on the south side and casts light reflections on the walls, the altar and the epitaph Enjoy the peace and quiet (unless a driver is unmistakably stepping on the gas pedal on the street in front of the church).

The late Romanesque stone church from the 14th century was dilapidated in 1610 and the tower was in danger of collapsing. In the Thirty Years' War it was also devastated. In 1741 it was rebuilt in the Baroque style (inscription inside above the portal). The church is open 24 hours a day, all year round.
