The neo-Gothic church in Mühlsdorf, built in 1885, is one of more than 30 churches in the context of the glass art project "Lichtungen" of the Evangelical Church of Anhalt.

Great art in small village churches: At Lichtungen, contemporary stained glass windows are installed in small churches in remote locations. Created by young artists from the region, as well as by internationally well-known artists such as the Englishman Tony Cragg.

Before long, windows by Esslingen-born Burg-Giebichenstein graduate Julian Plodek were installed. The three deep blue chancel windows show different phases of the moon behind billowing ears of corn. They symbolize the importance of agriculture in the area. The title of the choir window, "Three Nights" symbolizes dramatic phases from the Gospels of the Bible: the night in the Garden of Gethsemane before Jesus' crucifixion, the Holy Night and the Easter Vigil.

The installation of twelve smaller windows in the nave is also planned.

With the installation of the choir window in the Mühlsdorf church, an extensive renovation is completed for the time being, during which the facade, electrical installation and interior plaster were also renovated. The costs for the entire construction phase are around 100,000 euros. The work is funded by the district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld, the Lotto-Toto-GmbH Sachsen-Anhalt, the Kunststiftung Sachsen-Anhalt, the Stiftung Resolute Churches and the Evangelical Church of Anhalt.
