Due to the dike in the former Nordstrander Bay, swimming almost independent of the tide is possible three hours before and after flooding in the North Sea. Access to the water is possible via a staircase with a railing. The North Sea Cycle Route leads here to Hamburger Hallig or to Nordstrand.

The Holmer Siel is a popular beach and recreation area in the north of the seaside resort of Nordstrand in Schleswig-Holstein. The embankment of the former Nordstrand Bay makes it possible to swim in the North Sea almost regardless of the tide, meaning that you can go into the water about three hours before and after high tide. Access is via a staircase with a railing, which makes it easier to get into the water. The beach area at the Holmer Siel offers various amenities for visitors. There are beach chairs where you can relax and sunbathe while enjoying the view of the Halligen and the Wadden Sea. The North Sea Coast Cycle Route runs right past the Holmer Siel, making it an ideal stopover for cyclists. For families, there is a special family beach with a playground where children can swing and climb. The adults can relax in the beach chair or read a good book in the meantime. There is also a dog beach where dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash. The bathing area is monitored by the DLRG during the summer months to ensure the safety of bathers.
