The Mahane Yehuda Market is the largest, busiest and most ethnically diverse freestanding market in Israel. The market with its dealers, the number of which varies between 250 and 350, is visited by around 200,000 people every day. The offer consists of vegetables and fruit, as well as spices and nuts; Meat and fish offerings are also available, as are other foods. Many stands offer typical products of the local cuisine such as baklava, halva, pastries, shawarma, kibbeh, kebab, shish kebab and other products. There are also tea and coffee shops, bars and restaurants in the market.
Mahane-Yehuda has long become one of the most popular meeting places in the city. Some Israeli travel agencies also offer an audio guide with which you can walk through the market and hear exciting stories about people who are behind the stands, there is also a tasting card with which you can try local sweets at these stands.
The market remains open until 7 p.m. every day.

    Good to know:
The Mahane Yehuda Market has been the target of several terrorist attacks in the past: on July 30, 1997 with 16 fatalities and 178 injuries, on November 6, 1998 with 6 injuries and on April 12, 2002 (during the second intifada) with 7 deaths and 104 injured.

Just nice to walk over here and take in all the colors and smells. In the evening, a little nightlife develops. There are good and very good restaurants around the market as well, but it's just as nice to just shop in the market and then walk towards the Knesset and look for a place for a picnic.

The market is not only geared towards tourists but serves the local population first, which is what makes it so charming. There are also many snack bars and small restaurants with all kinds of food.
