Tips
Until 1942, Urk was still an independent island - only when the Noordoostpolder was drained did Urk become part of the Dutch mainland. Nevertheless, the inhabitants still live 'on Urk' and not 'in Urk'. In any case, the town with its lively harbour is a great stopover during your bike rides.

Nice wee seaside town plenty of bars/cafes. All the boats are marked UK which is the code for Urk not United Kingdom.
