The prehistoric rock formation is likely to be the middle red sandstone, so almost 250 million years old. However, there was a relatively dry (desert) climate at this time, which speaks for a species-poor fauna. (so not so many dinosaurs)
The narrow trail leads along a unique river landscape (the Sippach flows into the Feuerbach here) with primeval rock formations. It is said that the valley with its extraordinary flora was home to animals that are now extinct millions of years ago.
