After the Sagi was professionally restored by the association between 1996 and 2003, it is now used for maintenance and operation. According to the motto "protect and use", the listed saw should be accessible to the general public as a living and functional cultural monument.
In earlier times, supplying the local population and the Muri Monastery with wood was a central task of the Sagi and as such an important condition of the inheritance contract between the Muri Monastery and the owner.
The sawmill was also part of a larger, diversified private family business: the mill, grain trade, saw and agriculture were all under one roof. Today sawing is still carried out on the Wyssebacher Sagi, but its value also lies in giving us, the newborn, a realistic and comprehensible insight into earlier working and living environments: from landscape design and energy use to economic, social and ultimately cultural aspects rural lifestyle. It should not only create an understanding of the past, but also convey forward-looking knowledge.

THE ABSOLUTE HIGHLIGHT: Who has ever seen a mill that was mentioned as early as 1433 and that is still so well preserved?
