The hunter's house is 150 meters away from the most impressive tree in the whole of Kottenforst. It served as a relay station during the par force hunt and you could change horses here, for which a horse stable was located in addition to the lounge. Today the small building is a listed building. The regional forest authority Rhein-Sieg-Erft restored it and has been using it ever since.

Built around 1730/40 under the Cologne Elector Clemens August, who liked and often used the forest for his parforce hunts. He equipped the Kottenforst with a star-shaped system of paths converging in Bonn-Röttgen, especially for this type of hunt, horse hunt. The hunter's house, located at the intersection of two such paths, served as a relay station at that time. Here fresh horses were kept ready for the hunt. For this reason it contains a horse stable on the right and a small lounge for the hunting staff on the left.
After the death of Clemens August in 1761, which at the same time meant the end of the parforce hunt in the local area, the hunter's house became increasingly dilapidated, but was later restored by the forest administration.
