The Gohlitzsee offers a wonderful landscape with not overflowing natural beauties. It is fed underground and is very popular with anglers because of its abundance of fish. A walk or a hike around and on the Gohlitzsee is recommended, for example along the Willibald-Alexis hiking trail. In 2009 a summit cross was erected in the larch grove, a small spruce-lined clearing.
Various legends surround the Gohlitzsee, which are commemorated by a memorial stone in the OT Rädel. According to an ancient tale, the village of Gohlitz is said to have sunk here. According to legend, on bright nights with a full moon, the church bells can be heard at midnight. In fact, extensive archaeological work in the 1970s and 1980s brought to light numerous valuable finds from a vanished culture.
At the Gohlitzsee there are two bathing spots in the Lehnin area and one in Rädel.
