Road Cycling Highlight (Segment)
The Klausen is a very wonderful pass, from the Altdorf side first in the valley bottom, from Unterschächen then high in the valley flank and with a spectacular view of the valley in part, the route climbs with a moderate slope and is well developed up to the pass height. The Glarner side is also outstandingly beautiful in terms of landscape, is also well developed and offers some cobbled switchbacks at the end.
The only downside - the Klausen is also very popular with motorcyclists and is mistaken by some for a racetrack. However, this can be avoided if you are on the road before 10 a.m. - which is generally beneficial to the nature and alpine experience.
