Bike Touring Highlight
The historic center of Hooksiel with its listed port, the packing houses and the former town hall with the striking onion dome - today used as an artist's house - reminiscent of times when Hooksiel was still an important transshipment port on the coast before Jever.

Hooksiel is a nice fishing village with old town center and harbor (with historic ships). Small museums invite you to visit, there is also a good, very diverse local gastronomy. Often, in the summer, actions such as Heringsfest or similar. In the main season it is very crowded.

A cute little place with a beautiful pedestrian area and old harbor. For long stays, a long sandy beach, a Meerwasserhallenwellenbad and a huge recreational area with hiking, biking and riding trails, a trotting course, tennis courts, etc. invite.

The pretty coastal resort of Hooksiel is part of the municipality of Wangerland in the district of Friesland, the part of the East Frisian peninsula that historically belongs to the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg.
In the historic center of Hooksiel is the listed "Old Harbor" with its packing houses. Diverse activities are possible on the elongated inland lake "Hooksmeer" and there are wonderful photo opportunities. Many wonderful bike and hiking trails are right on the water. At the outer lock you can observe the lock operation and have a far-reaching view of the shipping traffic on the Jade estuary.
