Tips

  • Zieselwiesel

It is worthwhile to visit the Hirschstein in the early morning or in the evening hours. When the fog is still lying in the valleys and the sun rises slowly in the east, completely new impressions are created. Also in the evening. And there are many herbs to discover.

Ruin Hirschstein 1205 - 1412 Border festivals of the Bavarian Nordgau and seat of the knights of Hirschberg.
The rock and ruin are listed buildings. If you wander on the Franconian mountain path you will come over here.

On the north path between the Kirchenlamitz-Ost train station and the Kornberg summit lies the ruins of the Hirschstein Castle (744 meters). It was the site of a former castle, but unfortunately only a few remains can be seen. Hirschstein Castle, originally one of the oldest of the Fichtelgebirge, Rüdiger and Utzo von Hirzberg is said to have heard “zen Herschenstein” as early as 1206. Towards the middle of the 14th century, the castle was destroyed and never rebuilt.
