The town hall on the market square was built in the 1340s and was originally a functional building for the merchant stand. In the 15th century, the core building was expanded and the building received its current use as an administrative building. In 1618 another renovation followed, the town hall received an impressive stair gable on the market side.

The inscription on the coat of arms on the gable says: "Council and citizens of Gadebusch. In 1618 the town hall was restored in this form."
