The striking information sign with the inscription "Totenweg" inevitably makes the hiker pause and encourages reflection. It's unbelievable what hardships and hardships people have taken on in the past, but read for yourself:
Until 1150, Marburg belonged to Oberweimar according to canon law, where the Marburg dead had to be buried. The corpses were transported to Oberweimar via the Totenweg, which runs through the Heiligen Grund. The burial of the dead from the then independent village of Ockershausen continued until 1570 in Oberweimar.

A path steeped in history, nature, and inclines, plus plenty of benches and a great view further up. It's a joy for the living!
