The watercourses in the two plateaus constantly change their course, so that the fen, which occupies about half of this alluvial soil, constantly forms new patterns. New lakes appear - and disappear again. In 1996, this basin-shaped alluvial plain Plaun Segnas Sut - the lower Segnesboden - was included in the national inventory of fens of particular beauty and importance.

Even if you regularly go to the upper or lower Segnesboden, you will have a different view every time. Because the streams on the two plateaus are constantly changing their course. New lakes appear and they disappear again. Parts of the lower Segnesboden are also classified as fens and moorlands of national importance. The original mountain valley north of the Segneshütte was filled with debris brought by the mountain streams. This is how the extremely valuable natural landscape was created.
