Very nice hiking trail along the Holzbach. Especially in summer with hot temperatures, the dense foliage of the trees and the proximity of the stream make it still very pleasant and refreshing. Bicycles and horses are not allowed on the narrow, but easily accessible paths, so you can relax and unwind. Due to the length and the resting places with the possibility to put your legs in the cool water, it is also very suitable for families with small children. In the nearby Dappricher Hof everything can be rounded off with ice cream, coffee and cake.

It is fun to run along the Holzbach Gorge and enjoy nature at any time of the year. The lapping of the water has an incredibly calming effect on me.

A really idyllic piece of earth! Special in its own way

The Holbach Gorge is easy to walk through and offers many varied paths. There is always something to discover everywhere. Every now and then it is worthwhile to orientate yourself to the right or left of the path. The Holzbach dug its way through the basalt before flowing past Gemünden in the direction of Hesse. The gorge is approx. 1 km long and up to 30 m deep. However, sturdy shoes are recommended, as the paths are sometimes very narrow and slippery. As an additional reward, a visit to the Dappricher Hof with friendly service and a good selection of refreshments is worthwhile.

In winter, snow and ice can make it very slippery. One should therefore be safe on foot. Otherwise choose a drier and warmer day to explore. Some of the paths are very narrow and there is a steep right or left into the gorge. Very beautiful and adventurous! But only partially recommendable in winter.
