The residents of the Bohemian village of Wenceslas had to leave their homeland after World War II. Eleven families settled on their properties on the Bavarian side in Iron Lohe. There was always the hope of being able to return home soon. The living conditions were tough, especially in the long and snowy winters with the lack of electricity, water pipes and road links.After about 20 years, more and more residents left the settlement due to the lack of income and the harsh living conditions step by step until the last inhabitant moved away in 1969. After that the village fell into disrepair. The last remaining house - the "Fleischhackerhaus" - was secured.
