  • Take Me There

Tips

  • Richie on Tour 🚴‍♂️🚶‍♂️

The once so beautiful completely asphalted Waldchaussee was unfortunately partially badly ruined. Obviously the asphalt was removed and replaced by a greasy layer of gravel, take a look at my photos. In damp weather and on the ground, the bike and clothing are extremely dirty, which is no longer fun. Unfortunately, I can only recommend this route in dry weather and surface. I cannot and will not understand such construction measures.

  • A beautiful forest road and especially closed to cars

  • Particularly recommended is the direction of travel to Bad Iburg, which mostly leads downhill. You can roll relaxed and enjoy the forest or let the chain fly.

  • The Waldchaussee from Bad Iburg to Hilter leads through the Leeden. It is a well-developed road that is only released for cyclists and hikers.

  • Great bike route through the forest. But there are cars, albeit very rarely (probably forester, etc.). Also my tip: drive from east to west in the direction of Bad Iburg, it goes uphill at first, but then downhill much longer!

  • Nice place. Just pause for a moment and watch the reflections on the lake.

  • The wonderful bike tours over the Waldchaussee are history.
In autumn 2021, the asphalt black cover was removed and replaced with a gravel cover. Cycling is now difficult. Due to the newly created ruts in the forest vehicles, cycling is now life-threatening for children. At the end of the journey you look like a pig. The street is also no longer usable for walkers with walkers and wheelchair users.
Cycle superhighways are being laid out all over Germany, only in Bad Iburg is an existing de facto cycle superhighway being destroyed.
I currently advise against using the Waldchaussee.

  • Unfortunately, the time when the Waldchause was my favorite route is over.
The asphalt surface was largely replaced by gravel. This is partly loose in the middle of the roadway. Dangerous situations can arise when overtaking, even by pedestrians. The route is probably only passable by mountain bike.
Then there are the problems when it's wet...

  • After a while I rode the Waldchaussee again today and was pleasantly surprised at how well you can drive there again in dry weather and how many cyclists are already on the road there. Of course I don't yet know what happens when it's wet.

  • Great path through the forest, very varied (up and down) and completely without motorized vehicles!
