If you get the opportunity to look inside the church, you should do so. The atmosphere is very special. On the day of the open monument there are guided tours that reveal the history of the church. Who would have thought that it once served as a horse stable?

The Heimser church was probably built in 1136. The church tower was not built until 1205. At the main entrance above the door there is an arched field, the tympanum, carved from the time it was built. In 1510 the church was given a heavy late Gothic groin vault and had to be supported with external pillars. The pews date from 1664. The sound cover above the pulpit was donated by Anna Dorothea Duderstadt in 1698. The building was last completely renovated between 1970 and 1973. The church is connected to the Sigwards Pilgrimage Route and is open all day in summer and on Sundays.

The Evangelical Church of Heimsen is located in the district of the same name in Petershagen in East Westphalia, in the Minden-Lübbecke district. It was built at the beginning of the 12th century, and the church tower followed in 1205. The church was badly damaged during the Thirty Years' War, but the new pews built in 1664 are still in use today. The church belongs to the Minden church district of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia and is one of the "Weser churches". At the main entrance there is an arched field from the time the church was built, and some of the bells in the tower date back to the Baroque period (1751). The organ was replaced in 1973 by a historical instrument belonging to the miner Mühlhan from Clausthal and expanded to include a Rückpositiv.
