    Forges-les-Eaux-Platz sundial and double helix

Wennigsen. The Wennigser sundial indicates more than just the time of day. The astronomical monument on the Forges-les-Eaux-Platz in front of the community center (town hall) is a present of the 2005 Wennigser entrepreneur and inventor Erich Pollähne. The shadow sweeps like a pointer in a west-easterly direction over the metal plate, the clock standing on a pedestal. Not only the hour angle of the sun is measured. The sundial, which acts as a space capsule, is informed about stellar movements and astronomical riddles that have occupied humanity for millennia.
Not only the earth revolves around the sun: in human cells, the genetic information is stored in a spiral structure. Erich Pollähne inspired this insight to a more than four-meter-high double helix, which also stands at the parish hall. The self-winding spiral symbolizes the course of life on Wennigser Hauptstraße.
Zeitmonument and Doppelhelix, in front of the community center, Forges-les-Eaux-Platz and Hauptstraße, all year round, no entry.
