Shady Limekiln trail climbs into the Sierra Azul Open Space Preserve from Lexington Reservoir. After a fairly wide and well maintained first half mile the next 2 miles become more narrow with many technical sections, washed out gullies and loose gravel that make for a fun descent rather than climb.
After 2.5 miles it intersects with Priest Rock Trail, an also steep but probably more bikeable gateway trail climbing into the Sierra Azul Open Space Preserve from Lexington Reservoir.
After 3.5 miles Priest Rock Trail intersects with Kennedy trail that is another steep descent option back into Los Gatos.
