The driveway to the castle is a well-developed road from both sides, very easy to cycle. Cyclists are asked to dismount on the castle grounds itself, which is to be understood when there is a lot of public traffic.

Marienburg Castle is a palace complex that King George V of Hanover had built from 1858 to 1869 as a summer residence, hunting lodge and later widow's residence. It was a gift to his wife, Queen Marie, on her 39th birthday on April 14, 1857. Queen Marie and her daughter Mary lived in the castle from 1866 to 1869. After their exile, the castle became for almost 80 years only inhabited by the caretaker and temporarily from 1945 by refugees and the family of Ernst August (III.).
