Founded at the end of the 19th century by Abbé Buguet, parish priest of the village, this site has become an essential place of prayer for the deceased. Throughout the year, the sanctuary welcomes thousands of pilgrims from all over the world. Over time, it has become a place of reference on all questions of the Beyond, and on eschatological questions.
Built on the edge of the forest, the Basilica of Notre Dame Libératrice de Montligeon, erected as a minor basilica in 1928, dominates the surrounding plain with its two spires.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5. Excellent sanctuary. Great welcome. The priests of the Saint-Martin community are welcoming, well-trained, and zealous in answering the sensitive questions of Purgatory, the raison d'être of this sanctuary: Praying for the deceased and the souls in Purgatory.
