With around 1550 inhabitants, Oberrotweil is the largest of the seven wine-growing communities and their administrative seat. Hiking trails at a well-tolerated altitude - between 220 m and 550 m - open up the scenic beauties of the unique mountain island on the Upper Rhine with its rare flora and fauna.

A tip is a trip to the Mondhalde viewpoint. Here you can enjoy the entire panorama of the Rhine Valley and the Burgundian gate. Thanks to information boards (in four languages) on the various types of wine, the two-kilometer route is a short-lived pleasure. In addition, the six-kilometer “Culinary Wine Trail” conveys knowledge about the relationship between landscape and agricultural products on ten boards
